I’ve made some big changes to the code and styles that run this here blog. Hopefully, the only thing you’ll notice is a change from 2 columns to 3 columns. I’m fairly certain that I’ve salvaged the legacy code that needed to be kept in order to get all posts before this one to display correctly. But, just in case, don’t freak out if things are a little buggy for about a week, while I hammer out the little stuff that I may have overlooked.

I’m semi-new to the blogging world. I kinda like it. There’s a handful of blogs that I visit daily (which really means about 3 or 4 times a day, JUST IN CASE). I have been unable to visit 2 of them for the past 2 days, and it’s making me nervous. My blog roll says that their pages have been updated within the last couple hours, but that could be a fluke.
Mike and Heather, where are you!??!?!
EDIT: Looks like it’s just me:
http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
says that the site’s are working. Guess I should have checked that before blogging about it.
Strange… and it’s ONLY those two sites that I can’t get to load all of a sudden. I’ll have to do some more looking. If Mediacom is behind this, heads will roll!
EDIT EDIT: Ok, so I ran a traceroute from my PC and the connection dies at Mediacom. I did the same from the diagnostics page for my router and the request timed out after it hit Mediacom. I sent them a SCATHING email telling them to quit blocking my crap!
EDIT EDIT EDIT: Ok, I haven’t heard back from Mediacom yet. I’ll give them one more day before I go nuts. I’ve had some luck by using http://www.accessanywebsite.com to get to those 2 sites, but I can’t leave comments when I go that route.
My blogging agenda was interrupted tonight, but I have no complaints with that. Why, you ask? Well, because my wife decided she wanted her own blogspot/blogger account. Any time Sarah shows an interest in technology or the internet, I get very excited. I offered to just add her as an author to my account. Kinda like a “guest poster” or something. See, we don’t really know how often she’ll be blogging, and it seemed easier to do it that way.
“But I want mine to be purple”, she replied.
*sigh*
So, I set up an account for her and spent the next few hours hacking away at the code to get it *just right*. The themes that come with blogspot/blogger are ok, I guess. And they do allow a certain level of easy color modifying. But there were some major code rewrites that I had to make in order to get it to how I liked it. Then, I had to add a bunch of variables so that Sarah can semi-easily go in and adjust the colors/borders, if she sees the need for it. She tends to like my choices, but it is her blog, afterall.
I present to you… Sarah’s blog, “Because I Said So“. I’ve also added it to my “Required Reading” on the right hand pane, under the most recent photos. Look to the right, and scroll around if you don’t see it.

Check it out… she’s not as awesome as I am, but she’s gosh-darned close
Well… it takes a little bit of time to see how Blogger structures their code, but I think I’ve got a grasp on it. I’ve been playing with design, colors, and borders for the last hour or so here. Getting the right areas boxed in the way I wanted took a few minutes, but it was worth it. As you can see, I like bland and basic, but I’m very picky at how it all fits together. I’m diggin’ it now, man!
